Orrington's 2022 Citizen of the Year

John Mugnai exemplifies the spirit and commitment of Orrington. There are not many people who have touched so many lives for so many years in so many ways. His love of Orrington shines every day. John has always been an educator extraordinaire with 50 years of service to the Orrington's schools and is a devoted volunteer to his community.

• Resident of Orrington since the age of 2.

• Attended Blanche K. Blake School, North Orrington School and Center Drive School.

• Graduated from Brewer High School, University of Maine at Machias.

• Taught in Orrington elementary schools from 1972-2005.

• Promoted to assistant principal, then principal until his retirement.

• Active in his local church.

• Continues to educate at the 19th Century Curran Village.

• The Center Drive School gymnasium has been named in his honor.
