Casella will bring their “World’s Biggest Christmas Box” to the parade. It is a huge roll-off dumpster painted to look like an giant Operation Christmas Child Shoe Box. Christmas Shoe Boxes are part of the Operation Christmas Child program of Samaritan’s Purse that delivers gifts to those less fortunate children around the world. Over 100 million have been distributed in over 130 countries since Franklin Graham started the program in 1993. Orrington has provided thousands of boxes in the past. This year’s goal is 12,000 boxes!

Parade watchers and marchers are encouraged to help in this massive endeavor by bringing simple gifts such as school supplies, facecloths, bars of soap, small stuffed animals, kid’s sunglasses, band aids, personal hygiene items, small toys, Hot Wheels,  etc. to the parade where they will be collected by Casella volunteers rolling large totes. These items will be delivered to local churches where they will be packaged into Christmas Shoe Boxes and sent to needy children around the world.
