The 2017 Old Home Week Photography Contest had 2 categories this year. First, there was the traditional anything "Orrington" cateegory. The second category focused on photos of the Curran Farm.... from any season, any date, inside or outside!
There are two age divisions in each category: Adult (for ages 13 and over) and Youth (for ages 12 and under).
Judging was done on Thursday, July 13, 2017 by a panel of dignitaries from our local government, schools and organizations. Prizes were awarded for first, second and third places in each of the three categories. The winning photos were proudly displayed at the Library during Old Home Week (July 14-23) for all to admire!
All photos must be picked up at the Town Library no later than July 28, 2017.

On Saturday, July 15, the first ever SedgeukneDUCK Regatta was held to benefit the Orrington Historical Society's missions. Bright yellow rubber duckies were sponsored for just $10 each. The little critters raced in the Sedgeunkedunk Stream from the dam to the Johnson Mill Road tunnel to the finish line. Fans stayed for burgers and hotdogs cooked on Bob's grill! Our neighbors in the Brewer Wastewater Treatment Plant assisted us with this fun and informative event. All proceeds were donated to the Orrington Historical Society for the restoration of the Grange Hall.
Wiffle Ball Tournament
Orrington Rec hosted a huge Wiffle Ball Tournament on Saturday, July 22 from 9 a.m. to 5 pm. Teams of family members, co-workers, neighborhoods, classes... whatever... were made up of 3 to 7 players. To view the rules, visit orringtonrec.org and click on register/account.
RC Monster Jam & FPV Drone Racing
Remote Control cars, trucks, planes and drones took to the track and the skies at Perry's Field on Harrison Avenue. Race fans checked out this awesome action on Sunday, July 16 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. This event was sponsored by King's Mountain RC of Brewer. It was fast, fun and FREE!
